Eye opener: All over the globe everybody wants to spend a lot of time on their electronic gadgets. The notorious battery low warnings always kill the morale of using the gadgets. Due to the urge to continue using our electronic gadget in this digital era, it is important to have extended life batteries. The good news that comes with the engineering breakthrough by theUniversity of California, Irvine researchers that have come up with a battery composition material that can hold acharge and never die.

Audience relevance: This is most relevant to you because in my class survey nine out of ten of you own an electronic gadget, and regularly use it for a minimum of fifteen hours a day.

Transition: to begin with I will discuss what the long lasting non-rechargeable batteries are.

Body.

According to the University of California, Irvine researchers the most recent invention of nanowire-based battery material that can hold acharge for a long period (Vaughan-Nichols, 2016).

Transition:Now that we have looked at the long lasting non-rechargeable batteries let’s look at how they differ with the conventionalbatteries.

The main difference between the new invented long lasting non-rechargeable batteries and the ordinary batteries is that they have thousands of times thinner wires than the human hair. These nanowires provide a large surface area for storage and transfer of electrons. Consequently, they also possess a proactive coating that makes the nanowire batteries stronger (Vaughan-Nichols, 2016).

After we have viewed at how the long lasting non-rechargeable batteries differ with the conventional lithium-ion batteries, let’s have a look at the advantages and disadvantages.

The main advantage that goes with the non-rechargeable batteries is the ability to hold acharge for a long time. Secondly, the battery is made to stay for a long time without dying and becoming non-functional (Vaughan-Nichols, 2016).

Although the non-rechargeable batteries come with major disadvantages such as; they are fragile. Secondly, they grow brittle and crack with their lifetime shorter than the conventional Lithium-ion batteries (Vaughan-Nichols, 2016).

Summary Statement: Today I have explained what the long lasting non-rechargeable batteries are, how they differ with the conventionalbatteries and some of their advantages and disadvantages.

The gadget users have the very opportunity of saving a lot of time to recharge their batteries and also the cost of buying new batteries.
